Just in case you aren’t bored hearing about my trip to Morocco, here is the second of three posts telling you what I got up to and whether it’s worth it. This post in particular is exploring the cities of Bouznika and Casablanca, which we managed to both cover in the same day.
Bouznika: Eden Island Surf Club
Located at the top of the beach in Bouznika, Eden Island Surf Club is a great place to give surfing a try. We, unfortunately, couldn’t surf because there weren’t any waves on the day we went. However, we were able to try paddle boarding. Personally, I feel that paddle boarding may be more my style (Post on that here). The instructor was very calm and patient with us, especially considering that only one of us spoke fluent French. He made us feel safe in the water, and was still able to have a laugh with us despite the language barrier. It honestly made paddle boarding such a fun time.
Final Comment: If you’re scared of surfing/the ocean in general, paddle boarding is worth a try
Rating: 9/10
Bouznika: Street Restaurants
Located in each beach town are a few small local street restaurants serving fish. The fish is so beautifully fresh, due to the place being so close to the beach, and also amazingly cheap. I honestly had such a great meal, consisting of fish, salad, and chips… Every single part of it was utterly perfect. I don’t know the name of the specific one we went to. However, according to my Morrocan friend (And volunteer tour guide), you find the same sorts of restaurants in every beach town you go to.
Final Comment: Warning – things may still come with the head on

Bouznika: The Beach
As I mentioned in my Chicago post, I’m not the biggest fan of beaches. However, it must be noted that this is a pretty nice one. The pictures I have are so unbelievably beautiful, and the sand is and not at all stoney (I hate stoney sand). I’d recommend bringing towels, as the deck chairs are pretty expensive for what they are, but overall, pretty cute beach.
Final Comment: I would like to reinforce the fact that I am not particularly passionate about beaches…

Casablanca: Rick’s Cafe
This was quite a fancy place, and happened to be the place where we went to treat ourselves. There was smooth and classy live background music, bread on the table as we sat down, and they refilled our wine glasses as soon as they started to look empty. The prices weren’t two bad: we split a bottle of wine between four of us, had a main and a dessert each and that came to around £30 each, which I would say is definitely worth the food that we had. This doesn’t feature on my vlog because you can’t film or take pictures inside, but this definitely didn’t detract from the experience. It made for a lovely night.
Final Comment: Their chocolate lava cake was beautiful, not a fan of the ice cream though.

Casablanca: Mogador Marina Hotel
We only stayed at this hotel for a night so I can’t really say too much about it (Although, my friend does a pretty amazing room tour in my vlog here). However, the room was very pretty, and the view from the window was absolutely stunning, overlooking the whole of Casablanca. I will say that the breakfast was a little overpriced for what it was (Yes it was a buffet, but it wasn’t worth the money). But yeah, it wasn’t a bad hotel.
Final Comment: I recommend eating breakfast out if it’s not included in the price

And there you have it! Everything I checked out in Bouznika and Casablanca. I didn’t really have any real time to explore Casablanca, so I’d love to do it again when I go back to Morocco. If you want a visual representation of these places, they’re covered in the first part of my Morocco travel vlog which you can find here – you should most definitely check it out, we’re adorable if I do say so myself.
Do any of these places pop out at you? Let me know in the comments!
Lots of love,
Jas xx
