*I was invited to this event by the people at Fabletics, and was gifted sports wear. The bras with a * next to them are gifted items. However, all opinions are my own.
Remember in January when I said that I was getting my sh*t together, fitness wise? Well, then I encountered two dissertations and my final exams. That being said, an invite to a fitness class run by Fabletics with a chance to try out their new bras was exactly what I needed to get my butt in gear.
Fabletics are an online retailer, linked to JustFab (The shoe company) that offer a VIP subscription, in which you can pay monthly to get good sportswear at a reasonable price. I’ve actually been a VIP member of both Fabletics and Just Fab for a while now (I always find Just Fab is the best place for great boots!) I won’t lie, I don’t really have the money to pay monthly for shoes and sportswear, and I tend to skip months unless I know that I need something. However, when I actually do need to buy sportswear, Just Fab are my go to, because they have the best quality sporty leggings and sports bras I’ve found for the most reasonable price.
The event was to honour Fabletics’ new collection of sports bras, aimed to suit every occasion you can think of. I’ve never had a massive issue with sports bras; my boobs aren’t exactly massive, and they’re not too bad at staying secure during a workout. However, the majority of sports bras I own are from Fabletics… So maybe that has something to do with it.
Their new range includes:
Designed for a low impact level, this bra aims to provide support for everyday wear, but still be super comfortable. It fits really nicely, looking more like a bralette than a sports bra (Even doing up in classic bra clasp fashion, with a sweetheart neckline), with no wire, but bonding around the cups to give the illusion of regular lingerie.
This is probably the sort of bra that you’d think of wearing when you first think “sports bra”, with it’s molded padding and customiseable hooks offering high support. It looks most like a “classic sports bra”, with rose gold accents at the back, giving a bit of flair, and a front mesh panel to provide ventilation. (You can see it pictured here)
This is an updated version of the Tammy bra (Which I actually bought for myself in the Boxing Day sale and wear a lot), designed to be more supportive. It has a cute crossover style, giving it this “wrap top” style in bra form, with higher triangle cups and a strappy back for more support.
This is an updated version of their mila bra, featuring a longer band and a V neck instead of a scoop neck. and it has a pocket at the back for your phone!
During the event, Fabletics gave us the All Day Everyday and the Belle bra to try as we participated in a couple of exercise classes. My first impressions of both bras was promising: they were both super comfortable, easy to put on (Although definitely preferred putting the All Day Everyday bra on due to the bra clasps), and generally fit well. The material is sturdy and smooth and they didn’t feel like they would chafe or rub. But I was curious as to how they’d hold up in an exercise class – especially the Belle bra that felt a lot lighter and barely-there.
Doing a 20 minute high intensity aerobic workout may not be my regular go-to. However, doing a 20 minute high intensity aerobic workout with a brand new pair of sports bras and leggings, in a room full of women of all shapes, sizes and ethnicities with a kick-ass empowering instructor was incredibly motivating. With all the intense and high speed dancing and jumping, I didn’t really have time to focus on how my boobs felt in the bra… But I also didn’t need to, because the bra had brilliant support. This one was definitely my favourite of the two because of the support it gave.
Though this workout was definitely far more my speed (Barre classes are my favourite kind of exercise class), I’m not sure whether the bra was. It was incredibly comfortable and I could barely feel it, but it did lack the support I needed for stretching. At one point we did some floor stretches, and I felt like my boobs were going to fall out (they didn’t though – luckily). However, I can’t fault the comfort, and intend to wear it for trips to the shops and days that I don’t want to wear a bra.
As I mentioned towards the beginning of this post, I already did beforehand. Fabletics were already my go to place for athetic wear, and they will continue to be after this event. I feel like you have to ensure you’ve got a good sports bra because boobs and working out can be an awkward combination. And Fabletics is the perfect mix between affordable and good quality for me. The VIP monthly system is a bit annoying, but as long as you set yourself reminders to skip months if needed to, you should be absolutely fine.
Have you ever tried Fabletics? Where’s your favourite place for sports bras? Let me know in the comments!
Lots of love,
