A post-uni wishlist?
Could it be?
Has it happened?
Am I finally… done?
The answer is YES. After three years of being that blogger talking about student life, I have sat my last exam and I am leaving student life behind me… At least for now.
I cannot even begin to describe the amount of joy that is coursing through my veins right now. Third year was the hardest of them all and while I loved my student status, I lost time for so many things that I wanted to do because the degree came first. But now I am free. And even if I end up working a 9-5, I will have the non-student luxury of leaving that all behind me at the end of the day and working on my own things.
So, because I am a massive visual learner, I thought I would let you all in on how I plan to spend my new found freedom, especially as I go into the last summer of my life. Without further ado, here’s my post-Uni wishlist.
Does anybody else unintentionally find themselves sitting in a mess of their own creation during exam time? Just me?
My room at home is messy enough, and now I’ve got to bring home the mess I’ve collated in my Uni room too. For the last few years, my room in London has felt more like a storage closet than a bedroom, so I’m excited to do a massive clearout, transform it into a room/workspace and get started with the next step of my life.
This is hopefully one that I can cross off my wishlist pretty quickly. I’m actually really excited to do a good organise of all of my stuff. I have some cool storage and organisation ideas and am considering doing some posts on it, but I don’t know if that’s too adult too soon. Let me know if a “How to renovate your room without actually renovating it” post is of interest to you.
You’d think after three years of studying (half) an English Literature degree this would be the furthest thing for my mind. However, my English Literature degree had an adverse effect, destroying my ability to read for fun. Every time I picked up a book that wasn’t on a reading list I felt like I was cheating on my degree. Reading became a chore that was assigned to me, rather than love. And I plan to rekindle that lost love, now that nobody can tell me what to read anymore.
I plan to get on GoodReads and start a TBR, as that seems to be what all the book bloggers do. So, I am looking for any and all recommendations.
Okay, it’s pretty evident that I never stopped writing. I have this blog and I frequently visit my novel. However, I did not have the ability to write like I used to. I used to spend 3-4 hours a day in my little writing cocoon, and I miss it. I want my latest novel draft finished by the end of this year. It is in writing, so now it must be done.
It’s a massive hobby of mine, and I will admit that I did it far more often than I should of when I should have been studying… However, now I can work on it guilt free! I’d say that it’s probably my most creative outlet, as well as the one that brings me the most escapism. I just want to get back into music more in general. It was a massive passion of mine before Uni got in the way. I have a couple of interesting music-related projects in the work, so hopefully, I’ll be able to share more about those soon.
Me and two of my friends have been planning a podcast together for 4/5 months now. However, since we all go to separate Unis we spend 6 months of the year in different cities. However, the summer is here, we’re all in the same place, and the last 4/5 months have given us a really great time to plan. Get ready for a pretty cool podcast, coming your way soon…
I briefly touched on this in my comeback post. I’m such a big striver for improvement and for the last few months, I haven’t been able to put my all into this blog. I have a head full of ideas and plans and I believe that I can make this so much more than it is. And now that my degree is over, I can put that work into it. Hopefully, it will show.
I am a very goal-orientated person. And, for as long as I can remember, that goal has always been my next course of study. It was getting to GCSE’s, then A levels, then getting into Uni, then attaining the degree. Now it the first time that I’ve really had to refine and decide that goal for myself, as well as figure out how to get here.
I now have my next goal. I’m not going to talk about it yet because it’s a bit out-of-the-box for me (although not really) and also quite hard to attain. But I have a plan to get there and I’m excited to start working towards it… Watch this space.
In all honesty, this may be the wishlist that I’ve been most excited for. This is probably the freest I’ve been in terms of possibility and next steps, and I plan to revel in that in my “gap year” for as long as I can. Hopefully, over time I’ll be able to tell you how well I’ve done. Honestly, I’m not going to place serious blame on myself if I don’t achieve them – that’s why I referred to is as a wishlist rather than a set of goals. However, I’m enjoying using these as a starting point, so let’s see how it goes.
What are some curent things on your life wishlist? Let me know in the comments!
Lots of love,

I didn’t know you were writing a book! That’s so awesome! Nice to see your plans for this upcoming season in your life!

Ahhh I’m so bloody proud and relieved for you!! I hope you have the best break and I can’t wait to do fun things with you. I’m with you on a clear out, I left it way too long after I graduated to get properly organised so when it came to it, there was sooo much crap to sort out. Definitely feels super satisfying afterwards though! I can’t wait to hear some of your music, as well as read your book when it’s done and listen to your podcasts. SO many exciting things!

Thanks so much! Cannot wait for our London trip <3
