I’ve been back at Uni for a week, my course hasn’t even started yet, and I’m already giving up.
I overplanned.
Having been away in London over the summer, I missed out on a lot of Bristol opportunities, so I scheduled a lot for when I got back. This week I had 9-5 training days with my Uni newspaper, followed by some sort of evening blog opportunity/social everyday. I spread myself ridiculously thin, I barely had time or energy to talk or reply to emails and, in turn, I am completely drained. I don’t have the same enthusiasm for my blog or blog stuff that I maintained throughout the summer. Everything I’m doing feels like a chore. In all honesty, this post today was supposed to be completely different. However, I don’t have the energy to write much, so I figured I may as well be honest.
Am I giving up?
I’ve mentioned many a time that I do this because I love to write. This blog is, in essence, a passion project, and any paid/gifted work is just an extra. Therefore, if I’ve lost the passion for it, surely the logical next step is to stop blogging?
I won’t lie, the thought of giving up did cross my mind. Not a resolution to stop completely, but I did think about just… not doing it for a while. I lay in bed this Saturday thinking “I should have something up this morning, but… Who really cares if I don’t? Who really cares if I never upload again?” And that’s when I had to bring some tough love into my own life.
Get yourself together Jasmine.
I know that I keep rehashing that this is a passion project of mine. However, that doesn’t change the fact that it still is a project. Projects take work, and force you to power through your dull spots to get to the magic. Nothing is happy and shiny 24/7, and honestly, it would be quite boring if they were.
During August I would sit at my laptop and do 9-5 working days on my blog. No, I may not have the time for that now, but I have resilience and time management, and that can get me through this tough time. I will be inspired again; I have amazing content planned for October, so I’m hoping to get writing that soon. I’m just overwhelmed at the moment, but that will stop.
Giving up is not an option (yet)
I’ve put too much into this to let one bad period of time deter me from growth. I think I’m really starting to come into my content and have my own real identity and I want to keep that going. Things come in waves, and right now I’m drowning. However, I won’t be drowning forever. Good things are still to come.
How are you doing at the moment? Let me know in the comments!
Lots of love,
Jas xx

You just have to get into new routines–don’t give up!
Thank you, I will try!

Girl love that you’re pushing through! I’m trying to prepare for my relaunch and it’s HARD, but I’m in refusal of giving up too! You’ll get that fire back girl!
Thank you so much, I’m very excited for your blog launch!
Jas xx
Don’t burn yourself out or you will not enjoy blogging at all. Maybe cut down your blogging schedule for posting until you have a bit more time?

Thank you! I’m trying not to

Aw man, I totally understand where you’re coming from! This year has made me think about giving up my blog more than once. But ya know what, if it’s something you’re passionate about then you should keep it going!
☼ cabin twenty-four
Yeah, hopefully we can both keep going!
Jas xx
Your blog is super interesting and im a new follower but i understand when this feeling of giving up sets in. it becomes a chore rather than something that brings joy and thats when u get those thoughts like, ahh noone really cares.
I hope u can find a way to make it valuable for yourself again!! Good luck im cheering for u ????♀️
Awwww thank you so much, yeah it’s so annoying when it comes a chore :/ Hoping to make it through!
Jas xx
Don’t give up. I love your blog. If you need to take time or cut back, it’s totally okay to do that.
I’m doing pretty good, thanks for asking.
Awwww thank you so much, I’m hoping not to give up!
Jas xx
It’s so hard when situations change! I’m working all the time and I find it hard to actually find the time to blog but I love it so I keep going even if it’s not as regular as usual. You will find your own rhythm and know what’s best just keep going! Xx
Yeah, I’m slowly starting to find my own rhythm again, thank you!
Jas xx
Love the honesty here in your post, sharing your thoughts and feelings. Bottom line, do what brings you happiness and what you’re passionate about, and if it’s this blog – keep it up girl!
Thank you! Yeah, I’m gonna keep going, at the end of the day this is my love.
Jas xx
Don’t give up your blog but know when to take a break. Uni is more important. And it is okay to prioritize that over your blog. Also, lesson learnt, now you know!
Yeah, it’s all just going to be a game of balance!
Jas xx
What a great open post and Iove how you have wrote this!
Don’t give up, its just about adapting and change is mostly good, it’ll all work out in the end girly 🙂
Awwww thank you! Hopefully it will all work out in the end, like you said!
Jas xx
I could completely relate to what you were saying! There are so many other things we have to balance with blogging, it can get a bit much at times. I went through a period of not really feeling passionate and what I did was try and change things up a bit. Revamp your site or start a new blog series. Don’t give up, you can do it!
Yeah, I’m open to some new things 🙂 Thank you for your kind comments
Jas xx
Your blog is amazing, don’t give up, just give yourself some time and work out a way you can make time for it. But don’t pressure yourself!
Love, Amie ❤

Awwww thank you so much! Yeah, I’m gonna make it work

I’m really REALLY glad you changed your tone there towards the end. You’re right about passion projects being projects. Not everything is shiny and happy all the time. Sometimes things slip in life (in all areas) and that’s okay as long as they’re there to be picked back up again. I love your blog and I’d definitely miss it if you did stop. But you can be kinder to yourself with your blogging schedule while you find a balance x

Thanks so much Sophie! Yeah, I’m starting to be a little kinder to myself. I love your blog too, and I’m happy that I’m going to keep going!

Keep on! I deleted my old blog earlier this year for similar reasons, like nobody cared if I posted or not, no one really interacted with me or remembered me, so I gave up. But I missed it so much I’m back blogging again haha! Take your time, maybe have a break, but do whatever makes you happy. If you force it, you’ll resent it x
Thank you! I am starting to take my time
Jas xx
I can totally relate with know that feeling about feeling drained. Sometimes, we need to take a step back and reevaluate our priorities. Giving up blogging shouldn’t be an option but rather have a more relaxed schedule if anything. Once you find your vibe, you’ll be good to go! It’s an adjustment but totally doable xx.

Thank you so much Nancy! I’m definitely getting my vibe back.

I completely understand where you’re coming from with this, I’ve felt the same about my blog in the past and ended up taking a couple of months off. I felt so guilty to begin with but it helped me so much because the passion I had/have for it just getting more and more again. Now, if I don’t have time because of uni work or I just feel uninspired, I just don’t post for a week or so and I feel like I can get back into the swing of it after that short breather. Loved your honesty in this, well done for pushing through girl! Don’t put too much pressure on yourself though, we’re all with you no matter how often you post. Your posts are always amazing and that will keep peope coming back to read them!x

Thank you so much lovely! Trying to put less pressure on myself <3
Jas xx
I love your positivity! It’s hard to balance a lot at once but don’t give up! You’re doing well girl! Xo
Thank you! I’m trying haha
Jas xx
Oh yes, definitely don’t give up! Pace yourself and take a break if you need to 🙂
Cora | http://www.teapartyprincess.co.uk/
Thank you! I’m starting to pace myself!
Jas xx
Loved this post! I thought about giving up on our blog plenty of times. But just like you I remember I do it because I love to write and want to share our experiences! Keep grinding and striving!
Thank you so much! Yeah, I’m definitely going to keep going!
Jas xx
I think you would def miss blogging if you stopped. I also think every blogger reaches a point or points where they have to review their time, schedule, and passion. I’m glad you’re not stopping.
Olli – http://www.olliviette.com
Thank you! Yeah, I definitely needed time to re-evaluate.
Jas xx
the thought of giving up is normal. The difference is whether you act on it or not. Don’t act on it because of a dry spell you seem to be going through 🙂 xx

Yeah, I’m not acting on it anytime soon! Thank you!

I’m a big fan of taking breaks. Life got rough for me back in June and I stepped away from my blog for the summer. I always tend to do this when it becomes a chore not a passion. But! The beauty of blogging is that it’s always here when you need it and want to come back. It should always be just your passion project not something you force yourself to do. I hope the inspiration comes back to you this fall and if it doesn’t I hope you come back when it does =).
Thank you so much! My inspiration is slowly returning 🙂
Jas xx
Don’t push yourself too hard. Just find a schedule you’re happy with. Would be a shame to give up.
Blogging is so much harder that I thought it would be. Putting yourself out there, struggling to find inspiration, building traffic, etc. it takes a lot of work, just beyond the writing passion. Don’t give up, your words are beautiful.
Yeah, it’s definitely a lot more work than people anticipate! Thank you so much, I’m not giving up just yet 😉
Jas xx
Wow I was actually thinking about this and wrote a blog post on the exact same topic. It’s hard to stay motivated becaus I don’t get paid from blogging but I would like to in the long run! But I noticed in all areas of my life, I don’t want to be a quitter!!! If you can check out my post that would be great: https://insidethethoughtsoflia.wordpress.com/2018/09/25/successful-adulting-never-give-up-hang-in-there/ xxxx
Take a deep breath, slowly regroup and know that you have this!
Thank you, I’m starting to!
Jas xx
I’m glad you’ve decided to stick with it! If it’s something you truly enjoy, then you should definitely keep it around. 🙂
Thank you!

Just a few days ago, I was like “I’M DELETING MY BLOG” – I was so stressed & stuff, but now… I reminded myself something….. I reminded myself why I started blogging in the first place & now I have my answer <3 Darling, you're an amazing blogger <3 PS. I love your profile picture <3
